Me and Blaq Pages met on Instagram. He is one of the DJs and promoters pushing the Gqom sound in LA. He is originally from Ghana. We met up the other day and we are working on this FIRE Gqom track together. Excited about the future.
Invited by my dear friend Soohan, I've put together this collection of songs from the last year that you may not have heard yet, that have been rocking dance floors across the globe. Awesome an informative short documentary about Gqom music in South Africa.
If you aint hip to GQOM music from Durban, South Africa yet then here’s your chance. I fell in love with Gqom about a year ago and its only getting better and better. You’ve probably already heard it on the dance floor somewhere. I play it in my sets, with no plans of stopping. Get hip.
“Gqom is a style of kwaito music that emerged a decade into the 21st century from the city of Durban, South Africa. The word gqom sometimes expressed as qgom, igqom, gqomu or variants thereof, derives from an onomatopoeic combination of click consonants from the Zulu & the Xhosa language that represents a hitting drum.”
